First of all, a few useful links for information and graduation syllabus for Aikido club @ Kampsport Instituttet in Stavanger:
- Kyu grading syllabus (ie. from white belt to brown belt)
- Dan grading syllabus (ie. black belt levels)
- Reference movies for randori-no-kata (basic 17 kata)
- Reference movie for randori-no-kata-no-ura-waza, ie. basics and counters
Most links are from British Aikido Association main webpage: feel free to check all the material offered by this complete site.
Other interesting sites, that offer a better overview of the Aikido practiced by Bob, are the following:
- Official site of Shodokan Aikido International Headquarters
- Shodokan Aikido in Switzerland
- Shoshinkan Schools of Traditional Tomiki Aikido
- European Tomiki Aikido Federation
One comment about the beautiful calligraphy in the opening page of Shodokan Aikido in Switzerland: mushin mugamae,
, “No emotion, no stance”. Remember this is a goal in your practice and learning, but up to a certain level (uhm.. 5th dan for example
), taking a clear stance, kamae, 構え, is important for faster improvement, both as tori and uke.
This is the Aikido style I have been practicing since 1995.. until the moment I moved to Stavanger.. where it becamea slight mix of Aikikai and Shodokan!
The Aikikai Foundation (財団法人合気会, Zaidan Hōjin Aikikai) is the original organisation for the Japanese martial art aikido, officially recognized by the Japanese government in 1940.
The Norwegian Aikido Federation (NAF, the federation I belong to) has a syllabus slightly different from both Shodokan and Aikikan, the other federation in Norway under Aikikai.
