新年快乐!!!!

31 12 2014

In other words Happy New Year folks, first to my Asian friends, 7-8 hours in front of us.. them Europe then American friends getting late to 2015 but still getting there…

Anyway, Chinese is the language for new year fireworks, even if western new year is not so special in China. But even in Ijsselstein a local shop advertise today as best day for fireworks in Chinese:

Not sure though how many can understand the Chinese, besides my Chinese colleague 🙂

Desolation!!!

Back to Utrecht!

30 12 2014

My return to Utrecht had found completely frozen streets: the snow of the other day combined with a large temperature drop left a good layer of ice on several places!!

icy home street

At least at home I could enjoy good Italian products (salami, cheese and taralli) with great American beer, one of the few!!!

Italian treats at home

Quite funny the way to work on Monday (bloody Monday, as usual) where the ice made the cross in front of the company looking more like a Norwegian cross of my old times in the north:

sliding at work

and then at work I suddenly experienced a food déjà vu

…good to have other Italian colleagues!!!

2014 in review

30 12 2014

It has not been a great blogging year for me, I increased the drafts more than the posts, and in general the year has been less than shiny in other personal aspects, where I have increased the sorrows instead of the happy moments..

2015, I do not want to expect anything, it is better, as I have to learn to expect sh*t from people, the only way to avoid to be disappointed…

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 14,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 5 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Where is all the people?

Utrecht station, 24th December – 7 am:

I got a little more than half day at work to do then home then flying back to Italy for a family Christmas.

Tough to see most companies are closed today, the 31st and the 2nd if January, as actually some other branches of my company (ze Germans for example… always wiser?!). Better not thinking about that, relax and set the mind to the next days!

Folks, merry Christmas!!

Or as the say in my beloved China,

Merry Christmas day!!!! 😜😱😇🎅👻🎉

Wet wet wet

Crossing fingers for a drier Saturday at least, for some hanging out and Christmas shopping…

A very tall Christmas “tree”

16 12 2014

Christmas gets closer and the telecom tower of Ijsselstein becomes one of the tallest Christmas trees. For sure the tallest for me.

IMG_0798.JPG

It does not add any particular “Christmas-y” thoughts to my mind, in general quite difficult, but it does add some lights both in the dark mornings and evenings, coming and going to/from work.

Good enough? One must enjoy the little he can get and make its own. Especially when there are not so many good things for the mind available..
